Season 48 ended up being a "break out" season for the NSW Sporting veteran, Ihipa McGee.
Not only did he rack up 10 results (6 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds), he briefly regained the NZ Tour Rank as #1. He also made it onto the Kenny Haakon List with an impressive 33 wins and 66 results at seasons end.
In addition to his two results so far this season, Don Hamstre announced that McGee has won The Ian Defley Trophy for Best Old Rider in the S48 OCM Awards.
McGee said that at 36 (nearing 37), retirement has been on his mind, but while the results keep coming, and his legs are feeling good he will continue to ride for his beloved NSW Sporting in whatever capacity the manager feels best suits him.
